The School District of Rhinelander serves nine townships and the City of Rhinelander. The district also offers two charter schools and a variety of parochial schools, including Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School, which is a preschool through grade 8 school within the district.

The†University of Wisconsin-Superior (UW-S) is Wisconsin’s leading public liberal arts college.†As part of the University of Wisconsin system, UW-S has a beautiful campus in Superior, Wisconsin, near the shores of Lake Superior. However, through its Distance Learning Program, UW-S offers five bachelor degree programs where students can earn a four-year college diploma from the convenience of their own home computer. Degrees in Communication Arts, Elementary Education, Sustainable Management, Health and Wellness Management and Interdisciplinary Studies, where students can design their own degree program, can be earned online. Nicolet College is a two-year community college located on the scenic shores of Lake Julia. The college offers more than 50 degrees, diplomas and certificates, including a University Transfer Liberal Arts program, where students complete the first two years of a bachelorís degree before transferring to a four-year college or university. Nicolet also offers Creative Arts Services, Business and Community Education, Learning in Retirement and the Outdoor Adventure Series.

Advanced Welding Institute†in Eagle River is a private, post-secondary welding school offering accelerated welding programs to meet the growing demand for welders in the United States and Wisconsin. The school offers six-month classes starting every March and September.

Nearby Treehaven is a natural resources education and conference center operated by UW-Stevens Point. Treehaven is a field station for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources during the summer, instructing over 200 natural resource management students annually. During the winter months, Treehaven becomes an environmental learning center offering professional conferences, continuing education, public workshops and youth programs.
