W.I.L.D. Hodag Mini-Triathlon

Make plans to join us for the first annual W.I.L.D. Hodag Mini-Triathlon on Saturday August 24th, 2013.� The race will kick off at 8 AM at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander.� The race includes a 300 yard swim, 10K bike portion and a 5k run.� The course will wind through the gorgeous northwoods scenery of woods and water.� Proceeds from the event will go to benefit W.I.L.D. Rhinelander Room Tax Community Grants

Do you have a great event, project or program you promote in the Rhinelander area?� Are you looking for some help with advertising and marketing costs for that event?� The Rhinelander Area Tourism Marketing Committee is again accepting applications for funding through our Community Grant program.� The Committee will fund events or programs that are geared to bring tourists and visitors to our area.� All grant funding must be used on marketing and advertising expenses.� Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2013 and can be turned into the Chamber Office at 450 W. Kemp St.� Rhinelander, WI 54501 or emailed to director@rhinelanderchamber.com

Nature trails you need to travel this spring

Trails are finally clearing up, ushering in hiking and biking season in the Rhinelander area. So where to start? These trails are some of our favorites. And keep your eyes peeled on your trek� you may even see a Hodag!

Almon Park Trail. Perfect for an easy stroll, this level 2.25-mile trail runs through beautiful forests and scenic wetlands, and passes the shores of Buck Lake. Located five miles south of Rhinelander.
Holmboe Nature Preserve. For a relaxing nature hike, try this trail. It�s only one-mile long, and it�s an outstanding area for wildlife viewing. Located near the Taylor Park Health Care and Rehabilitation center off Boyce Drive.
Washburn Lake County Trail. Ambitious hikers and bikers will love this 15-mile trail. As you weave through the gorgeous surrounding forest, you�ll forget you�re traveling its challenging hills. Located seven miles west of Rhinelander and three miles north of Woodboro and Highway 8, just off Washburn Lake Road.
Bearskin State Trail. The crushed granite surface of this 18-mile trail is suitable for mountain bikes and hybrid bicycles. State trail pass is required. Located west of Rhinelander.
